Former Arsenal captain William Gallas believes Arsene Wenger should sign a new deal at the club.

The retired Frenchman says the boss can still be successful at The Emirates, but claims Wenger needs to change his approach in the transfer market to do so.

Arsenal have lost five out of their last seven and were knocked out at the Champions League round of 16 for the seventh season running this week, but Gallas thinks Wenger should continue at the club.

‘I hope for him. He deserves it for what he did before with Arsenal was great,’ said the 39 year-old (via Metro Sport).

‘He has to speak with the board and to change the politics.

‘Maybe bring in more experienced players – players with more responsibility. Players sharp on the pitch when they don’t play well.’

Arsene Wenger is suggested to be muling over a new contract offered by Arsenal and is expected to make a decision on his future in the coming weeks.

Speculation has been mounting that Juventus manager, Massimiliano Allegri is in line to replace the Frenchman this summer.
