According to reports in Turkey, Fenerbahce are interested in signing Joel Campbell from Arsenal.

The Costa Rica international has been unable to make an impact at The Emirates since signing in 2011.

Turkish outlet Takvim say Fenerbahce are chasing the player and have been for nearly three years.

Campbell is currently on-loan at Sporting Lisbon, but it understood the Portuguese club have no plans to maintain the player.

The 24 year-old has had a fairly uneventful spell – he’s netted three times and provided four assists in 16 games for his temporary side who sit 3rd in the Primeira Liga.

The rumours are Fenerbahce have made contact with Arsenal’s representatives over a potential summer deal.

A further loan move is anticipated with an option to buy the Costa Rican the following summer for €3-4m.

Campbell doesn’t appear to be in Arsene Wenger’s long-term plans. He’s been loaned out five times by the Frenchman, including spells at Villareal, Olympiacos and Real Betis.
