Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli admits it would be “great” to reunite with Alexis Sanchez once again.
The Argentine worked with the Arsenal forward during his time as Chile’s manager and there have been suggestions Sanchez will be a target of Sevilla this summer.
“If only, yes, it would be great to have the chance one day [to coach Sanchez],” said Sampaoli (via Sky Sports). “He is a top, top player. One of the best forwards in the world I would say.
“I was lucky to share a time with him in the national team. We went to a World Cup together, we won the Copa America with him in the side as well, it was a very satisfying period of my career and it was great to share it with Alexis.”
Sanchez’s current deal with Arsenal expires at the end of next season and speculation is mounting as to whether the Gunners will cut their losses and offload the talisman in the summer.
The 28 year-old has looked visibly distressed with Arsenal’s campaign so far, despite scoring 21 goals and assisting 14 in all competitions this season.
He appears to be a man with his heart set on an exit.
