Alex Sanchez has ‘agreed’ a deal to sign for Manchester City in this transfer window, reports claim.
It’s been well documented that the Chilean is out of contract at the end of the season and according to ESPN pundit Ian McGarry, Sanchez is close to sealing his chased move to the Etihad.
The Arsenal star came close to a move to the Etihad this summer after City launched a £60m bid, yet the move fell through with the Gunners failing to land a suitable replacement.
McGarry claims Sanchez will seal a reunion with former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola, with City willing to pay up to £40m for his services.
“I think Manchester City are prepared to pay up to £40m for him and I believe the terms of his contract has been agreed.
“It’s just about whether Arsenal can get someone into replace him in the January window, much like it was in the summer when the Thomas Lemar deal fell through.
“His price tag doesn’t increase because of Virgil van Dijk – it increases because of his contract situation.”
Arsenal’s draw at home to Chelsea in midweek has left them 23 points adrift of Manchester City.
