Olivier Giroud scored a brace as Arsenal kept their top four hopes alive by thumping Stoke City 4-1.

The Gunners had not won on any of their last six visits to the Britannia which has notoriously become a difficult game for Arsene Wenger’s side.

Arsenal dominated a poor first half, but it wasn’t until the 42nd minute when Hector Bellerin teed up Olivier Giroud who netted his 11th league goal of the season.

Mesut Ozil’s clever dink over Jack Butland doubled Arsenal’s lead 10 minutes into the second half.

Yet Peter Crouch controversially restored hope for the Potters – the Englishman converted Marco Anautovic’s cross with his hand.

Arsenal quickly put the game to bed with thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and another from Olivier Giroud.

Wenger’s side have made it six wins in seven and are a point behind fourth placed Liverpool.
