Arsene Wenger says Petr Cech wants to stay at Arsenal.
The former Chelsea goalkeeper arrived at the Emirates in 2015 and quickly established himself as a mainstay in the side and leader in the dressing room.
Wenger revealed how the 35 year-old has lost half a stone in a bid to become ‘fitter than ever’.
‘He gets older, we all do that,’ said the Gunners boss (via the Daily Mail), ‘but as he gets older I think he is fitter than ever.
‘He puts a lot of attention to the preparation. He is slimmer than before. I think he benefits from that.
‘He has lost some weight. Not too much, two, three kilos only. But it’s a lot if you want to make a horse lose a race, you put a jockey with one or two kilos more on the back, and the horse is quite big.’
Cech has endured a difficult start to the season with the Gunners conceding 16 goals this term, but the veteran shot-stopper has not ruled out winning the Premier League this season.
The retired Czech Republic international has lifted one FA Cup with Arsenal so far.
