According to reports Jose Mourinho will test Arsene Wenger’s resolve by launching a £22m bid for Mesut Ozil in January.
Initially, the Manchester United manager had planned a move for the World Cup winner in the summer, but Mourinho is now hoping to lure Ozil from the Emirates, to which Don Balon claim for a fee between £17m and £22m in January.
Ozil has just over six months until his current contract at the Emirates expires and the Germany international appears to be at an impasse over signing a new deal.
The playmaker has been in fine form for the Gunners in recent weeks, which may help Arsenal should they wish to bump up his transfer fee.
With both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata struggling at Old Trafford, Ozil could be the perfect fit for the No 10 position with United chasing City at the top.
Arsene Wenger recently claimed neither Ozil or Alexis Sanchez would be leaving in January, however, the Frenchman has u-turned on transfer promises in the past.
