Arsenal came up short for the fifth time in a row losing 2-1 at Newcastle on Sunday.

Alexandre Lacazette’s opener in the first half was a positive start for Arsenal and they had further chances to increase their lead at St James’ Park but failed to take them.

Arsene Wenger’s side were made to pay as¬†Newcastle went on to score two with goals from Ayoze Perez and Matt Ritchie.

Arsenal’s 11th defeat of the season has little baring on their Premier League campaign. However, it won’t have given the players any added confidence ahead of their huge Europa League semi-final clash with Atletico Madrid in 10 days time.

Rafa Benitez’s men are up now to 10th after claiming their fourth victory on the spin. The Gunners are now looking over their shoulder at Burnley who are two points further back in 7th.
