Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Alexandre Lacazette all scored as Arsenal thrashed Everton 5-2 at Goodison Park.

The game represented a crucial test for both sides whose managers have been under scrutiny from supporters and media this season.

Arsenal started the game well, but found themselves 1-0 down as Wayne Rooney’s long range effort on 12 minutes gave him his 15th goal against the north Londoners.

It appeared to be a case of here we go again, but Arsene Wenger’s side kept plugging away and found the equaliser through Nacho Monreal five minutes before half-time.

The goal gave Arsenal the impetus in the second half, Alexis Sanchez set up Mesut Ozil to put the Gunners in front. And when Idrissa Gueye was sent off for a second yellow, the Gunners punished Everton through Alexandre Lacazette and Aaron Ramsey.

Oumar Niasse pulled one back in stoppage time, but Sanchez wrapped up the scoring before the final whistle.
