Arsenal are through to the next round of the Europa League despite being held to a goalless draw with Red Star Belgrade.

It was a disappointing evening for Arsenal, particularly Olivier Giroud who was wasteful in front of goal.

The Frenchman, who scored spectacular winner in the reverse fixture had several chances to open the scoring, but failed to beat Red Star shot-stopper Milan Borjan.

In truth, Red Star gave as good as they got. The Serbian side came close to taking the lead in the second half, only to be denied by Matt Macey who’s outstretched palm tipped the ball onto the bar.

Like Giroud, Red Star striker Richmond Boakye also struggled in front of goal.

The draw means Arsenal are guaranteed to be in the hat for the last 32 in which sides from the Champions League will also feature.
