Arsene Wenger is set to call upon his second string side for Arsenal’s Europa League clash with Cologne.

The Gunners are in Germany and a win could seal them top spot in Group H.

There’s a positive mood around the North Londoners following last weekend’s derby win and despite the hostile changes Arsene Wenger will be keen to continue the feel good feeling with a win.

Team news

Olivier Giroud has flown out with the squad and could make his return after a suffering with a thigh strain.

The Frenchman will be joined by Danny Welbeck, who is returning to first team action after overcoming a hamstring injury.

Giroud was wasteful in matchday 4 against Red Star Belgrade, but did score a spectacular acrobatic winner in the dying minutes of the reverse fixture.

Academy graduates Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock and Ainsley Maitland-Niles could all start – though Wenger may opt for Francis Coquelin to keep it tight at the back ahead of Willock.

While Jack Wilshere, who was an unused substitute in Arsenal’s win over Tottenham, will certainly get his chance to impress in Cologne.

Arsenal’s third-choice goalkeeper Matt Macey proved he belongs in the first team with his display against Red Star Belgrade. Gooners will now be monitoring how he fairs away from home.

Arsenal XI: Macey; Debuchy, Elneny, Holding, Maitland-Niles, Nelson; Coquelin, Wilshere; Welbeck, Walcott, Giroud.

Thousands of Cologne fans stormed the streets of North London in the reverse fixture and Gooners should expect a hostile atmosphere in Germany. Keep it tight at the back for the opening stages and Arsenal should see themselves through.

Prediction: 1-2
