Sanchez completed 90 minutes against the Citizens on Sunday, but was unable to stop the Gunners losing 3-1 and being outclassed by Pep Guardiola’s side.
The Chilean who is out of contract with the club at the end of the season came close to moving to the Etihad on transfer deadline day. However the £60m deal collapsed after Arsenal failed to secure a suitable replacement.
City now plan on bringing the forward to Manchester on the cheap in the January window.
“He’s an Arsenal player. His manager had to speak to him,” Guardiola said of Sanchez prior to Sunday’s clash (via Joe.co.uk. “You know the situation – before the transfer window was open, and now it is closed.
“He’s an Arsenal player and is so important for them, for his talent that he has, you have to try and control him.”
Sanchez appears to be reluctant to improve his relationship with the Arsenal fans as he immediately headed for the tunnel to offer a hug to former Gunner Mikel Arteta at the final whistle.
