Jack Wilshere is ‘as good as Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’.
That’s the opinion of Arsenal legend Martin Keown who believes the 26 year-old unlike his team-mates has a long-term future at the club.
Wilshere has been sublime for Arsene Wenger’s team since making a return to side in September. The playmaker finally appears to have shaken off his injury woes and scored the opening goal against Chelsea on Wednesday night.
Like Sanchez and Ozil, Wilshere has just under six months to run on his current deal with the club. However, Jack is desperate to finalise a new contract and seal his long-term future at the Emirates.
And Keown believes the midfielder is close to matching Ozil and Sanchez’s ability.
‘Jack Wilshere proved against Chelsea on Wednesday that he is well and truly back, and a force to be reckoned with,’ said the former Arsenal defender (via Metro Sport).
‘He is a superstar approaching the levels of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil but, crucially, he wants to play for Arsenal. ‘The uncertainty surrounding the futures of Sanchez and Ozil has created a flat feeling at Arsenal.’
Wilshere has completed 90 minutes of Premier League football in each of Arsenal’s last six matches. The midfielder filling in for Aaron Ramsey may have cemented his place in the heart of the Gunners midfield. It could see Ramsey forced out wide when the Welshman returns from injury.
