Arsenal hero Ian Wright has welcomed the Gunners first addition of the summer.

The Gunners completed the signing of Stephan Lichsteiner earlier this week to kickstart their summer’s recruitment.

The Switzerland captain has arrived on a free after leaving Juventus this summer.

Lichsteiner will bolster Unai Emery’s defensive options ahead of the 2018-19 campaign as the Spanish head coach looks to build a robust defence.

The 34-year-old could be joined by several other new faces before the World Cup kicks off on June 14.

And Ian Wright appears to be excited by the winds of change at Arsenal.

The Gunners legend wrote on Twitter: ‘Welcome Stephan. Great business by the club. Loving what’s happening @Arsenal.’

Lichsteiner will provide competition for Hector Bellerin, who has been Arsenal’s undisputed first choice right-back since he broke into the first team three years ago.

Gooners, are you pleased with our first signing? Let us know in the comments…

No, to me it a terrible signing ..there are players out there , who are younger and just as good if not better to Sign, this tells me arsenal are going backwards , the boardroom are showing thier true colours , they no wish to get in the best, emery, going be just a yes man , to the board .
And it will get worse if we sign fellieni too.. the arsenal boardroom got no ambition other to make money, for me I will continue to follow arsenal but not wasting good money watching old men playing
