Arsenal defender Calum Chambers is in advanced talks with the club over a new contract, reports say.
The 23-year-old signed a contract extension last year but is clearly highly regarded by new manager Unai Emery and the Gunners appear keen to agree a long-term deal.
Chambers joined Arsenal from Southampton for around £16m in 2014 but has failed to nail down a regular role in the starting XI.
After spending the 2016/17 season on loan at Middlesborough, the Englishman returned to the Emirates last season, but could only impress enough to appear in 25 games.
Arsenal have just completed a deal for Stephan Lichsteiner, while Sokratis Papastathapolous is expected to be announced next week.
but despite Arsene Wenger’s lack of trust in the defender, it appears new boss Unai Emery is keen on Chambers cementing himself as a regular first-team player.
Gooners, does Chambers still have a big part to play? Let us know in the comments…
