Arsenal have added yet another member to the squad this summer and Gunners legend Ian Wright couldn’t be happier with the club moving swiftly in the transfer market.
Sokratis Papastapolous has become Unai Emery’s third signing so far since taking the mantle over Arsene Wenger in June.
It’s a start contrast to the Gunners’ usual policy of waiting until the dying embers of the window to splash out.
It seems to be talent spotter Sven Mislintat taking the lead on transfers though, as he brought in experienced full back Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free transfer from Juventus before using his knowledge of German football to land Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
Papastathopoulos, 30, had spells with AC Milan, Genoa and Werder Bremen before joining Dortmund in 2013, and he has racked up nearly 200 appearances for the Bundesliga giants.
Former Arsenal striker Wright took to Twitter to praise another ‘good piece of business’, and he is very happy with the swift nature of the Gunners’ transfer business this summer, whilst he also noted how important it is that Papastathopoulos already knows Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang.
Another good piece of business by the club. Getting things done early in the window has been a challenge in the past. You can't under estimate how much it helps to already have friends at a club👍🏾 #SOKRATIS
