Arsenal are edging closer to a deal to sign Udinese starlet Jakub Jankto after bidding rivals AC Milan withdrew their interest in the midfielder.
The 21-year-old has been one of Udinese’s better players this season and his impressive performances have attracted the attention of Europe’s elite.
Bleacher Report claim AC Milan were keen on signing him, but it appears they have been put off by Udinese’s €30m price-tag. It’s given Arsenal the all clear to snap up the midfielder if they can agree a fee with his club, and personal terms with the player himself.
There is some logic in thinking Arsene Wenger would be keen on signing Jankto. The promising youngster embodies many of the qualities the Gunners chief usually demands in midfield.
It could spell the end for Francis Coquelin’s spell at the Emirates. The defensive midfielder is already being used sparingly this season and would likely drop further down the pecking order upon Jankto’s arrival.
