Marseille have seen their odds slashed in regards to a deal for Olivier Giroud.
The Arsenal striker was left frustrated last season after falling down the pecking oder for Arsene Wenger’s side. Giroud started just 11 Premier League games, despite offering one of the best goals-to-games ratio.
The Frenchman had previously been linked with a move to West Ham, but Slaven Bilic’s side appear to have turned their attention to ex-Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.
Giroud who signed a new deal with Arsenal last season may have further cause for concern over a starting place in the Arsenal side. The Gunners have stepped up competition up front after the club completed the signing of Alexandre Lacazette earlier in the week.
Despite the tumbling of odds on a move, Giroud recently stated that he was committed to Arsenal and ready to fight for his place.
‘I won a few titles in my career, that is an important thing, but there is another thing which is important for me,’ Giroud told the club’s official site (via Metro Sport).
‘And that’s that people (see you as a) loyal warrior on the pitch – that you always give your best for the team.
‘And that’s why I want to carry on my good journey at Arsenal and I always want to give my best.
‘I would love to win another title, or maybe more until the end of my contract.’
