Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Mesut Ozil next summer, reports say.

Ozil has entered the final year of his contract at the Emirates and will be free to leave at the end of the season.

Reports emerged yesterday suggesting the Gunners are closing in on a deal to sign Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir as a replacement for Ozil.

And according to The Sun, Atletico boss Diego Simeone wants to offer Ozil a new deal worth around £200,000 a week with a huge signing on fee to bring him back to La Liga at the end of the season.

Manchester United were suggested to have a keen interest in signing the playmaker in January, however Ozil’s form this season seems to have called Jose Mourinho’s interest.

The German has come under fire from fans and pundits this term – he has registered one goal and two assists from 9 Premier League appearances so far.

Gooners, do you want to see Arsenal keep Ozil? Let us know in the comments…

Yes and more so than Sanchez. I first noticed this guy when he was at werder Bremen ( he had a wicked partnership with Marin who subsequently joined Chelsea and got lost in their horde of players) and is one of those players that many fail to recognise as special because he doesn’t fit the usual parameters of a good player so gets cast with the same dye as a Hoddle, le tissier, marsh, Bowles, curry, Worthington, romario etc, a luxury player. And we have made the same fundamental mistake of not building a team around him to remove the burden of what is not his game and allow him to maximise what is. We won the lottery when we got him and then spent the millions on scratch cards to win the Borneo state lottery worth £20.
