Alexis Sanchez is reportedly demanding a staggering £400,000-a-week to sign a new deal, but what is Arsenal’s best course of action?

The Chilean is at a stand off with the club, with the Gunners only willing to pay him £275,000-a-week.

The suggestions are that Arsene Wenger is prepared to maintain Sanchez’s services this season, despite the forward having just one year to run on his current deal.

After completing the signing of Alexandre Lacazette, the Gunners are now closing in on a deal for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.

It makes for a mouthwatering forward line, should Sanchez remain in the side. The 28 year-old netted 31 times for Wenger’s side last season, while Lacazette was prolific for Lyon, scoring 37 in 45.

To give in to Sanchez’s wage demands would likely cause tension amongst the squad.

Meust Ozil is currently Arsenal’s highest paid player, but the German’s deal stands at £140,000-per-week – a blemish on his teammates demands.

Sanchez has been linked with a move to Manchester City

The question is, should Arsene Wenger give Sanchez what he wants? If so, he could potentially turn the club into world beaters next season. But if he chooses to hold the forward to his current contract, he risks losing him for free next summer.

Wenger could of course cash in on the Chilean in this window. Manchester City have a keen on eye on him, but Arsenal fans will be hoping to see the forward leave for a club abroad as opposed to a domestic rival.

Should Sanchez depart, Leicester winger Riyad Mahrez is desperate to move to the Gunners. The Algerian has claimed he has an agreement with the Foxes to allow him to leave this summer.

But the £50m evaluation for the 2016 PFA Player of the Year has put Arsenal off a move.

Gooners, we want to hear from you! What should Arsene Wenger do about the Alexis Sanchez problem? Let us know in the comments…

  6. Kingsley garikem says:

  7. Kusolo Alex Dison says:

If he is so expensive like that which can cost our time, Wenger should live him go and we get something from him than waiting for the next season because he may not even work for us well since he shall be double sided.

  8. Mayor says:

Let him go, is not about the money but his character is not good for a club like arsenal

  9. Dele (Nigeria) says:

I think he should hold into him till next season, he is close to 30yrs and no club will sign him again for 5yrs and might not click that much again.

  10. chinedu Eduzor says:

we have a pretty long season ahead of us. we shouldn’t cave in to his demands. we should take the risk and retain his services for the next season. If he still wants to go at the end of next season it is fine. He would have helped us achieve whatever our objectives are.

  11. Awolesi taiwo says:

Arsenal don’t need him,he shld leave.

  12. yakubu says:

for wat let him go very fast bt if acept 300,000 is ok

  13. Mark says:

What team is going to pay Sanchez 400,000 a week?

  14. Bryan ThomasMary says:

Arsenal or wenger should try make hold him tight…… We’ll be needing him next season, cuz he’s one of the best that arsenal can ever has!!!!!

  15. Steve hancock says:

No player is worth such an obscene salary! Cash in Arsene and use money to get someone who WANTS to play for us!

  16. Burto says:

I think he is greedy and will never be a true gunner. Let him go. He is reaching the end of his career anyway

    • Anwar says:

Sanchez should leave. Replace him with Kylian Mbappe, also include a swap deal for Sergio Aguerro. I feel that that should be a fair deal or even brilliant business. With Sanchez attitude, there is no bigger play than thee Arsenal!!!

  17. van perse and others did the same where are they now. let him go if he want

  18. Bonny jr says:

I think wenger shld buy both mahrez and lemar. The sell Sanchez for a bigger price to help it match the expebse of the two. Xo let him go bt he shld rem its not certain That he Will b in the 1st X1 to other teams.

  19. Wenger shld mek sure wilshere is back and Neva sell walcott lastly why cant he but mahrez he all good indeed(he is now frustrate by the fact That wenger had not gone for him yet buy lemar mahrez) sell Sanchez he shld at no Tym brag .

  20. rob savvy says:

Sit him on the bench for a year, he is a distraction.(emotional reaction) no player is bigger than the club. Anyway, I would call his bluff and sell him if one of the conditions is that the club buying him agrees to pay him the 400,000 lbs a week he is demanding from Arsenal — but not to a premier league club. That will detemine his true markat value. If no other club is willing to meet his wage demands then we will have much more leverage in negotiating with him.
Or, sell for max value 80,000 Lbs but not to a premier league club and not before January window.

Also, you never know when a player may sustain an injury. Look what has happened to Carzola who is in his early thirties. Signing 24 to 26 year olds is excellent if they fit the team profile. It would be nice to build from the bottom up from the academy as well so that you have players used to playing with each other over time.

  21. rob savvy says:

PS: If our stated goal is to win the league, then we obviously cannot sell our best player to another premier league club. Surely the players agent and the player must be made to understand that and it is not negotiable.

  22. Errol mascoll says:

Sell him now he’s not worth his demands

  23. felix says:

Just let him go, he shouldn’t be allowed to hold the club to ransom.

  24. Amerin Johnus says:

KROENKE should pay him close to that amount if he wants to make a huge statement that hes the right person to lead us forward . They made enough money from the fans in the past its time to spend it.He’s a Big player and ARSENAL is also a BIG CLUB…GUNNER till I lose my breathe.

  25. AFC Tee says:

If HE, Alexis wants to leave, sell him. After all, Arsenal is a business, too…!

  26. Joy says:

    Let Alexis leave
I don’t really care who he goes on to play for next season, he is not loyal to the club and only desires personal achievements, his attitude is toxic and he doesn’t want to play for Arsenal again so why are we holding him against his wishes when we could sell him for big money and sign a replacement, I see Lemar as his natural replacement. After all, we just signed Alexandre who can give us the 20+ goals we need to be able to challenge for trophies next season.

  27. Andrew Trokon Bestman says:

Let him go we are gunners with out him we will always be a gunners and will never be un gone.My dear arsenal is bigger then every players.goooo we don’t need you

  28. Andrew Trokon Bestman says:

Go Sanchez we no longer need you your demand is too huge for us.

  29. john sharky says:

is everyone on here gone mad he has been one of the best players at Arsenal and one of the best players in EPL Arsenal should get their tight arse wallets out and pay the same way i pay for £80 a game

  31. Monsty says:

I will be delighted for Wenger to keep Sanchez at £300,000 a week but if he still insist he wants £400,00 sell him and get Mahrez and Lemar before we lose him on a free transfer next season
