Arsenal legend Ian Wright has slammed the club’s handling of Alex Iwobi as ‘a joke’.

The Nigeria international made the headlines earlier in the week for attending a party prior to Arsenal’s shock exit in the FA Cup against Nottingham Forest.

Iwobi was caught on Snapchat partying until the early hours of the morning less than 48 hours before the Gunners were dumped out of the competition.

It led to Wenger claiming that the 21 year-old would be disciplined by the club.

Wright is disappointed in Arsenal’s handling of Iwobi.

Iwobi then started in Arsenal’s goalless EFL Cup draw at Chelsea on Wednesday night. And Ian Wright has slammed the club’s handling of the situation.

“For a youngster to do that says to me that there is something wrong in the dressing room,” he said on Sky Sports (via the Standard).

“You can’t have a youngster feeling like he can do that and still play. Arsene Wenger should have had a stronger stance on this one.”

“People laugh at Arsenal and see them as a bit of a joke at the moment. People don’t want to be there, and it feels like everything is losing control at Arsenal.”

If the allegations against the £30,000-a-week playmaker are proved, he faces a fine worth up to two weeks’ wages.

The two teams are set to meet for second leg at the Emirates on January 24. Iwobi will be hoping to show more attacking threat than he posed at the Bridge.
