Arsenal have made Ross Barkley a prime target for the summer transfer window, reports the Liverpool Echo.
The Everton midfielder has enjoyed an impressive campaign for the Toffees after initially being dropped by new boss Ronald Koeman.
The 23 year-old has tallied four goals and seven assists under the Dutchman’s charge.
Critics believe midfielder has more to offer however. And Arsenal could be the step up he needs to unlock his full potential.
The Gunners will have to fight off London rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, who have both been linked with moves for the lifelong Evertonian
Barkley is approaching his the final year of his of his current Blues contract and could be sold for a cut price this summer.
Toffees boss, Koeman remains bullish the England international will remain with the club.
“I think every situation is different. Ross is a boy from Everton, and what we need to show to him is the best reasons to stay,” said Koeman.
“Football is a business, you make decisions. He needs to sign a new contract or you sell the player.”
