Arsenal have been given a boost in pursuit of Steven N’zonzi after Sevilla’s new boss Vincenzo Montella says he’s unsure if the Frenchman will see out the rest of the campaign.
N’zonzi has been out of the first-team picture at Sevilla since being chastised by former manager Eduardo Berizzo. The Frenchman was hauled off at half-time during their Champions League clash with Liverpool in November – the former Blackburn Rovers and Stoke City midfielder was reported to have left the stadium at the break.
N’zonzi has since been linked with a move to the Emirates as the man to anchor Arsenal’s midfield.
The France international has established himself as one of the hottest defensive midfield talents in Europe following his £10 million switch from Stoke two years ago.
“I’ve talked to him and I’ve seen him willing to be a part of the team,” Montella told reporters on Tuesday (via Goal).
“But I do not know if it’s going to be like that for the whole season – I can’t get into his head.
“He is fine, he has trained well and is a great footballer. I don’t like to give the line-up the day before a game, I like that to be known first by the players, but he is available for tomorrow [Wednesday’s Copa del Rey clash with Cadiz] and for the derby [against Real Betis on Saturday].”
Gooners, would you like to see N’zonzi in the heart of our midfield? Let us know in the comments…
