Nacho Monreal has come out on top to win Arsenal’s September Player of the Month competition after more than 20,000 Gooners voted in the poll.
The 31 year-old had a sublime month at the heart of the Arsenal defence which conceded just three goals. Arsenal Gunners kept three clean sheets in September against Bournemouth, Chelsea and West Brom.
Monreal’s stand out moment came in the 2-0 win at home to West Brom in which the Spaniard performed a remarkable goal line clearance to prevent the Baggies from equalising.
The converted left-centre-back took almost half of the votes cast, with last month’s winner, Sead Kolasinac, in second place and Alexandre Lacazette in third.
Like Monreal, Arsenal were excellent in September. Arsene Wenger’s side have propelled themselves up to fifth in the Premier League, have reached the 4th round of the Carabao Cup and have taken charge of their Europa League group.
Arsenal fans will be keen for the club’s good form to continue as they make the short trip to Watford on Saturday (17:30)
