Olivier Giroud scored a second half brace as Arsenal thumped Huddersfield 5-0 at the Emirates.

The Gunners started brightly and within minutes were ahead as Aaron Ramsey’s cute flick found Alexandre Lacazette who slotted home after just three minutes.

Unfortunately the Frenchman was forced off with a groin injury later in the half which will keep him out of this weekend’s clash with Manchester United.

The visitors were not without their opportunities – Petr Cech was forced into action, pushing Steve Mounie’s shot onto the bar not long after the restart.

However, Arsene Wenger’s men shifted up through the gears midway through the second period to put the game well out of sight. Man of the match Mesut Ozil provided two assists, each for Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez before getting in on the act himself. Giroud then added a fifth late on.

The Gunners remain fourth in the table, but have consolidated their place in the top. Huddersfield drop to 14th.
